Asym derby boot | rev choc cordovan
The Asym derby boot is a study in deliberate asymmetry — a quietly distinctive silhouette that reads as serious and considered without announcing itself.
The upper is cut from reverse chocolate shell cordovan, a rare equine leather taken from the fibrous shell beneath the hide. Worn flesh-side out, it presents a soft, napped surface with a depth of colour that shifts between warm brown and near-burgundy depending on the light. With wear and occasional brushing, the surface develops a subtle burnish unique to cordovan — neither the high mirror of its polished counterpart nor the flatness of a conventional suede, but something in between.
The boot is Blake stitched, with an all-leather construction throughout — upper, lining, stiffeners, and a double leather sole sourced from Thomas Ware and Sons using their chestnut tannage. The result is a close, streamlined profile well suited to the bespoke environment at The Strand Arcade in Sydney. A rubber top piece can be added to the leather sole for an additional $60.
