Asym derby boot | Yak stain
The Asym Derby Boot is a quietly distinctive silhouette — a Derby construction with a boot shaft that carries an asymmetric line, lending the shoe an understated edge without resorting to ornament.
The upper is finished in an overdyed yak leather, the stain working into the hide's natural texture to produce a depth of colour that shifts subtly with wear and light. Yak is a dense, tightly grained leather that softens gradually with use while retaining its character; the overdye process gives the surface a lived-in richness from the outset. All components — upper, lining, heel, and stiffeners — are leather throughout.
The sole is Rendenbach oakbark tanned leather, one of the few remaining traditional sole leathers tanned by a process that takes months rather than days, and is Blake stitched for a close, lean profile. Each pair is made to order at Andrew McDonald's workshop in The Strand Arcade, Sydney. A rubber top piece can be added to the leather sole for an additional $60.
