Wrestler boot | reverse cognac cordovan
The Wrestler boot is a close-cut, ankle-height silhouette with a quiet authority — the kind of boot that asks nothing of the room and gives nothing away.
The upper is cut from reverse shell cordovan in cognac, a horse leather sourced from the shell of the hide. Worn flesh-side out, the nap is dense and close, with a matte warmth that develops a patina slowly and honestly over years of wear. Shell cordovan does not crease — it rolls — and in reverse, that characteristic becomes even more apparent, the surface shifting subtly in different light.
Blake stitched through a chestnut vegetable-tanned leather sole with full leather lining, heel stiffeners, and a double sole for weight and longevity. Made at Andrew McDonald's workshop at The Strand Arcade in Sydney, where each pair is built to the same standard whether drawn from stock or made to order. A rubber top piece can be added to the leather sole for $60.
