Desert Boot | Choc Cordovan
The Desert Boot is a clean, above-ankle silhouette — unadorned and quietly assured, with a shape that sits equally well on city pavements as it does on a long weekend.
The upper is cut from chocolate shell cordovan, the dense, non-porous horsehide prized for its burnished depth and remarkable longevity. Cordovan does not crease like conventional calf; it rolls, developing a subtle, natural shine with wear that no factory finish can replicate. The chestnut tone here is rich without being loud. All linings, insoles, heel blocks, and stiffeners are leather — no synthetics.
Soles are single leather, vegetable-tanned by Thomas Ware & Sons of Bristol, England — one of the last remaining traditional sole leather tanneries. The construction is Blake stitch, keeping the profile lean and the feel close to the ground. Each pair is made to order at Andrew McDonald's workshop in The Strand Arcade, Sydney. A rubber top piece can be added to the leather sole for an additional $60.
