Derby Boot | Washed burgundy horse
A derby boot with an open lacing and clean, upright stance — understated in form, quietly assured in character.
The upper is cut from washed horse leather in a deep, muted burgundy — a finish that softens the hide's natural surface tension, lending it a relaxed, broken-in quality from the outset. Horse leather of this kind develops a supple, close grain with wear, its colour deepening and shifting in a way that marks time honestly. The lining, stiffeners, and heel are all leather throughout.
Constructed using the Blake stitch method, which draws the insole, upper, and sole into a single close-sewn unit for a lean profile underfoot. The sole, heel, and welt are finished in chestnut-tanned leather. Each pair is made by hand at Andrew McDonald's workshop in The Strand Arcade, Sydney — a building that has housed fine trade since 1892.
